Site Council Update: Buckman/da Vinci Articulation
In the spring of 2008 the District raised several questions about whether an articulation between Buckman and da Vinci makes sense. The District already has programs that allow students to move from one grade level to another in a course of instruction, like language immersion programs, but questioned whether there was a similar strength of connection based on arts instruction.
Even if this question could be answered affirmatively then the question would be whether there was enough similarity between these two programs to merit articulation. To consider these questions, a task force was formed consisting of parents and teachers from both schools. The results are laid out in this PDF.
Site Council meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 3:30-5 pm. (See the Buckman Google Calendar for date specifics.)
Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School offers an exciting arts-integrated learning environment for students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Buckman nurtures the whole child and strives for academic excellence through rich experiences in the visual, movement and dramatic arts.
