SCRIP
Want to help our school earn money in a very easy way? Buy SCRIP.
SCRIP is gift certificates or gift cards for specific merchants that is purchased by the school at a discount but sold at face value. There's no cost to you at all when you buy SCRIP - it's money you would have spent anyway at places like Fred Meyer, New Seasons, or Wild Oats, for example.
Some merchants discount 3%, some 10%. The school retains the difference, and here at Buckman, funds raised from scrip are earmarked to pay the $18,000 annual cost of our part-time librarian.
We sell on-hand scrip 8:35 am to 9:00 am Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm Friday afternoons in the front hall. Pre-orders are due Tuesdays by 9 am, and will be available Thursday afternoon.

Buckman Elementary School offers a rich arts-integrated curriculum, and is open for admission through the district's transfer policy to all elementary students in Portland Public Schools.
