Jupiter Hotel Bash, April 11
On April 11, 2008, the Jupiter Hotel Dream Tent rocked with the talents of James Mercer, frontman for The Shins, and Stephen Malkmus, of Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks! The evening's proceeds benefit the award-winning arts-integrated academic education program of Buckman Elementary School Arts Focus.
Performance artist, writer, and filmmaker Andrew Dickson (whose performance piece Sell Out was a hit at T:BA 2007), and Tara from KNRK 94.7FM, teamed up to co-emcee the evening's festivities.
A silent art auction featuring work by artists Storm Tharp, Jenene Nagy, Eugenia Pardue, Marlana Stoddard Hayes, Joe Thurston, Scott Wayne Indiana, Curtis Pachunka & Karen Koch, Justin "Scrappers" Morrison, Alicia J. Rose, Jonny Fenix, Bwana Spoons, Brett Superstar, Rob Bardel, Harvest Henderson, and others; and a Buckman student art gallery rounded out the evening's festivities. In addition, an Epiphone Les Paul guitar signed by both James Mercer and Stephen Malkmus was auctioned to a lucky bidder.
