Buckman Art Show & Sell, March 6-7, 2009

This festival of art is a feast for the senses—paintings, jewelry, toys, ceramics, wearable textile art, photography, mosaics, collage—something in every price range! Plus food by Artemis Foods and Cool City Kettle Corn, special Buckman doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnuts, coffee by Lost Bean Catering, sweets from your favorite bakers, music by the region's best jazz, fiddle, accordion and vocal artists.

Don't miss Saturday's entertainment: the Buckman Marimba Ensemble, the Buckman Chorus, Buckman Level 3 Dance, Boys Dance and lots more. Hands-on kids' art activities, plus a student art gallery. Enter to win an evening at the Doug Fir Lounge! And all artists donate 30% of their proceeds to the Buckman PTA!

Alder. Donations have been pouring in and we are ready for a great night out to benefit our school. Doors open and Silent Auctions start at 5:30, with live music by Anomalous Quintet. Dinner is at 7:20, followed by the live auction.

Planning to come? If you have reserved your ticket already, you will be ready to «check in», starting at 5:30, in the lower ballroom. Most seats are reserved and assigned for dinner. Limited tickets are available at the door, so please let us know in advance if you plan to come. Two tables will be reserved for open seating.

Decorating a Cigar Box to contribute? Please bring it in by Tuesday this week so that we can create the bid sheets. Include the title and your name.

Auction Baskets are ready for viewing! Buy your raffle ticket for one dollar each or six for five dollars to win one of these great baskets. Tickets will be sold before and after school this week. Thanks to all of the families who contributed so generously to these packages and to Chris Eichmiller for putting them together. The winners will be announced at the auction but you need not be present to win.

Check the auction bulletin board to buy spots for a Pre- Auction Sign-Up Party. Ten lucky people will be able to attend a class to learn the craft of Needle Felting with Indigo Corwin at her home on March 15th. More details are available on the auction website.

Performances by Boka Marimba have been made possible by a generous grant from the Regional Arts & Culture Council.

Buckman SUN Community School is a collaboration of Impact Northwest Multnomah County Office of School and Community Partnerships, the City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department, and Portland Public Schools.
